What Is Blockchain?
The arrival of blockchain came from the need to distribute but not copy individual pieces of data. Some markets like bitcoin and other Crypto currency’s use. It could also be referred to as a digital ledger which is spread across multiple systems. The blockchain can be updated regularly. Information is always being stored into the database and always being updated. This means these record are public to see and offer legitimate accuracy. The verifiable nature of these documents are as of a result of no central location meaning it is harder to hack since the information is located across millions of platforms. The invention of blockchain makes high risk digital actions like sending or receiving money much more secure. Blockchain was invented in 2008 but implemented once bitcoin was fully released. So blockchain offers better security and better accuracy.
Blockchains Innovation To Healthcare
Now with all this considered how might blockchain change the way healthcare operates in the United States? At the current rate the United States allocated 20 percent of its GDP to health care. And with that 20 percent the service offered and security guaranteed is very poor. Some of the promising opportunity’s that would shape health care are focused around the consumers of it. For instance when a patient is following their health care plan, and improving their condition, small incentives can be put in place to help better the patient’s condition. Another innovation would be to put in place consent management. Consent management would allow a patient through blockchain to give permission of data sharing between party’s. As of the current state of health care, each state has its own policy on this manner. This brings us to the next big thing blockchain can do which is secure official medical documents. When a doctor signs off it can be generated to blockchain which is absolutely secure and can not be changed. This will mean much more secure and accurate medical records.
Will Blockchain Come Into Fruition?
The invention of blockchain addresses a key issue in health care data and records. Its that record are centralized and one single entity affects the outcome and future of them. Since blockchain is not a centralized system these issues do not affect it. The integral role of this system may be far away. The technological challenges that face blockchain are unsolved. Blockchain is offered in very early stage products that may help to solve some of the systems technological issues. But with the combination of new technology’s like computer learning and artificial intelligence the problems that plague our healthcare system could be gone forever.
Conclusion
Blockchain could very well play an instrumental role in bringing health care back into focus. With the systems better security and data accuracy we very could see this new technology in the health care field. The issues that disrupt the current system could be fixed with the blockchain system and bring peace of mind the users of the health care system.
